Dermatology
Acupuncture can be used to treat some chronic skin conditions. We often see the best results with patients who use a combination of acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and lifestyle/nutrition changes.
Some skin conditions we commonly treat include:
- Eczema
- Acne
- Psoriasis
- Itching
- Hives
- Alopecia
- Dermatitis
- Slow wound healing

When it comes to treating skin conditions, acupuncture has been shown to:
- Induce a healing response in the local tissues
- Improve blood flow to the affected area
- Reduce systemic and local inflammation
- Improve flow of lymph and fluids throughout the body, aiding in toxin removal
- Increase collagen production
- Regulate the immune response
- Regulate hormone levels in the body
What to expect:
When pursuing treatment for dermatology, we usually recommend clustering visits closer together initially (once or twice per week), and then gradually lengthening the amount of time between sessions as your body starts to respond to the acupuncture. We look for improvements in intensity, frequency, and duration of symptoms. Our end goal is to get you to a place where you don’t need to come in for treatment anymore, or we space visits out to a maintenance plan that works for you.
Treatments may consist of acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine recommendations, as well as nutrition/activity/lifestyle recommendations. For most dermatological conditions, the greatest result is seen when including Herbal Medicine and/or nutritional changes into your acupuncture treatment plan.
We will work with you at your first visit to solidify a treatment plan based on your unique presentation.
